Frame Attachment.....
Frame attachment, or swap-out is a standard $40.00, which includes removal of old frame and any adjustments that are necessary to make the bag fit the new frame. This does not include a new liner, which is often needed when adding a frame to a drawstring bag. Once the drawsring is removed, and the sides of the bag cut to fit the frame, the bag does become larger and the original liner is not large enough to accomodate the new frame.

Beaded Purse Repair
If you are contemplating either a change of frames or adding a frame to a drawstring bag, keep in mind that the dimensions of both the frame and the purse must be very close in size for the frame to fit. I can assist you in finding the perfect frame if you do not already have one in mind. Though I have only a small selection of frames at this time, there are several resources all over the Internet through which you can find the perfect frame!
Floral micro-beaded drawstring bag. Client wanted a frame attached as well as a new liner and fringe.
I assisted the client in finding a complimentary frame with jade inset raised clasp and drop pendant.
On the subject of whether or not to frame a drawstring bag, this is entirely up to the collector. There seems to be an ongoing debate with regard to framing drawstring bags, and both sides of the argument have valid points. Many collectors prefer to keep their purses as original as possible with no alterations to the appearance; this helps maintain the book value of the purse, as well as its historical value.

Other collectors prefer to improve the look and value of the bag through the addition of a frame, predominantly jeweled ones. A complimentary jeweled frame can really look nice on a drawstring reticule and will only increase the value of the purse. The ultimate decision rests with the client. If you aren't sure, there are several resources on the Internet concerning this topic. The Antique Purse Collector's Society web page includes a forum for members to discuss topics just like this. Many of the members are experienced collectors, and can offer great advice to those who are not sure about certain topics like framing drawstring bags.
