One of my clients sent me this gorgeous celluloid purse frame, but the bag that was attached to it was flimsy and obviously not the original fabric. So she asked me to create a nicer looking bag. The frame is large an unusual in shape. It has an overclasp and is decorated with what appears to be a tropical or jungle motif in heavy relief.
I immediately had a vision for this purse. I took the frame to a fabulous, small vintage textile shop that I frequent when in need of special materials. The owner of the shop deals specifically in vintage and antique French textiles, lace etc. I found a gorgeous piece of 1920's crushed ivory velvet and a flirty length of feathery brown and gold flapper trim.
the lining is a complimenting caramel silk that is stitched to the frame using vintage topaz three-cut glass beads.
