Beaded Purse Repair
Here is a wonderful steel beaded purse with a rare butterfly scene on it. Like most of the steel beaded purses I recieve for repair, this one had multiple areas of split rows as well as a terribly damaged fringe. The jeweled frame was original to the purse, though a bit small for it, calling for the rough gathers to fit it onto the frame.
Once all the split rows were repaired, the challenge was to reattach it to the frame in a manner that would not scrunch the ends of the butterfly wings so much. I concentrated the gathers more towards the center of the purse, and more spaced out. The original fringe was denser, making it an extremely time consuming repair. I re-fringed it in the same style, not as dense, giving it a nice delicate look.
